Bulletstorm
PC/PS3/Xbox 360

Are you bored of running down a corridor fighting a virtual war which is supposedly based on real world events? Do you find yourself playing with your grenades out of boredom rather than throwing them at your enemy? Then look no further, Bulletstorm is here to inject some fun into your life with one of the craziest first person shooters in recent years.

People Can Fly isn’t a special move in Bulletstorm but instead it’s the name of the developer of a cult classic PC game called Painkiller and the aforementioned title which is being supervised by the Gears of War team, Epic Games. Using the unreal engine, Bulletstorm see’s you in a first person shooting environment which rewards you for killing your enemies in unique and stylish ways that you can conjure up by using your fantastic little brain. These are dubbed “Skill Shots”.

While not all types of Skill shots have been revealed to us eager gamers there have definitely been some exceptionally unique ways of taking down your foes with the lightning blue electric whip which can pull enemies over to you while slowing them down in the process. Imagine the possibilities and shotgun, a slow flying enemy and your mind could get up to. Couple this in with a firm kick via the press of a button and you could most definitely kick an enemies flying corpse into a cactus for a very nice spike in your points earned.

Bulletstorm is not just a single player blast-a-thon it also features Co-operative and competitive multiplayer modes which should definitely keep the longevity up with the community across all three formats. With its tongue firmly stuck in its cheek, Bulletstorm is crammed with one-liners, cheeky gags and you can definitely expect to see some nods and homage’s towards others well known videogames in the same genre. I’m fully expecting some Duke Nukem Forever reference in the game, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

If you’re interested in Bulletstorm and you own an Xbox 360, you could be in for a treat if you are a fan of Gears of War. The Bulletstorm: Epic Edition has guaranteed access into the beta in April for Gears of War 3 which is a definite incentive to lay down your money for the game. Bulletstorm is out February 25th, if it tickles your fancy then you will be in for a treat.
